Anaheim Ducks defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk suffered a lower-body injury in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota. The veteran blue-liner was able to skate for only 7:08 in the game. Fellow rearguard Nathan Beaulieu also exited with an undisclosed injury, so the Ducks were forced to end the game with four defensemen. Shattenkirk is definitely the more important of the two, as he typically plays in every situation and contributes well offensively. He's on five points through 14 games this season, but Shattenkirk was close to averaging 0.50 points per game last term. Beaulieu is a defensive-minded player and is tied for the second-most blocks on the team with 20. Injuries should help Colton White to re-enter the lineup, and he might actually play some reasonable minutes now after averaging only 9:11 of ice time in his first few outings.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
