Kevin O'Connell Promoted To Offensive Coordinator
6 years agoThe Washington Redskins promoted quarterbacks coach Kevin O'Connell to offensive coordinator on Tuesday and demoted former offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh to senior offensive assistant. Not much will matter if Washington doesn't have a capable quarterback under center in 2019. Alex Smith isn't expected to be available for most of the year, if not all of it, after breaking his leg in gruesome fashion last season. The 'Skins ranked 28th in yards per game (299.7), 28th in passing yards (188.8), 17th in rushing yards (110.9) and 29th in points per game (17.6) in 2018. Expect them to lean heavily on the running game once again with Derrius Guice hopefully healthy in time for the start of the season.
