Kevin Herget Earns First Career Save
2 years agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Kevin Herget picked up his first career save on Thursday, finishing off the New York Mets in a 5-0 victory. It was a bullpen day for the Reds, and all of their arms performed well. That included 32-year-old Kevin Herget, who only had 7 innings pitched in the majors coming into 2023. He stymied the Mets over his 3 innings of work, allowing just two hits while striking out four. Herget has actually been very good for the Reds this season, as shown by his sublime 1.69 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. He won't get many, if any, more saves, but this is a cool moment for him nonetheless.
