Kevin Herget Sent To Triple-A
5 mins agoThe New York Mets have optioned right-handed pitcher Kevin Herget to Triple-A Syracuse. The Mets claimed Hergert off waivers earlier in the offseason but he was unable to capture a spot on the Opening Day roster. Last season, Hergert tossed 11 1/3 innings with the Milwaukee Brewers and held a strong 1.59 ERA with a 0.79 WHIP. He tallied nine punchouts and posted a strong 7.9 percent walk rate. However, in 2023, Hergert posted a higher 5.18 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP across 24 1/3 innings with the Cincinnati Reds. Last season, the 33-year-old logged 47 2/3 innings at Triple-A and held a solid 2.27 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP. He held an 11:59 BB:K ratio and allowed just two home runs. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should expect Hergert to return to the majors when the Mets need additional depth in their bullpen.
