Kevin Ginkel Gets Sent To Club’s Alternate Site
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Kevin Ginkel was earning saves as recently as a week ago, yet he was demoted to the club’s alternate site Friday when a roster spot was needed for left-hander Caleb Smith. Ginkel has compiled a 6.75 ERA in 19 appearances this season, striking out 18 batters in 16 innings despite a gaudy 13 walks in that span. Travis Bergen earned his first career save Thursday, with the D-backs’ closer’s gig now firmly up for grabs. Fantasy managers can move on from Ginkel, who holds little fantasy intrigue when not earning save opportunities.
