Kevin Gausman Goes Seven Scoreless Innings
3 months agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman improved to 11-8 with Tuesday's victory versus the Los Angeles Angels. Gausman worked out of some trouble in the contest, but overall tossed seven scoreless innings with six hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Both of his walks came in the bottom of the second inning when he Mickey Moniak and Brandon Drury worked back-to-back free passes. The veteran has been a mixed bag this year and his strikeouts have been down this season, but he has thrown to a 3.31 ERA with three quality starts over his past 35 1/3 innings. Gausman will look for similar results in his next outing against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday, in what should be a two-start week with another favorable matchup versus the Los Angeles Angels. Despite the low K rate this season, Gausman has still been productive for managers of late and should remain rostered.
