Kerryon Johnson Shows Dual-Threat Ability Against 49ers
6 years agoDetroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson rushed for 43 yards on eight carries and caught five passes for 23 yards. While Johnson's numbers don't jump off the page, he had a slightly bigger role in the offense than in Week 1. Similar to the Jets game, the Lions were trailing the 49ers for a majority of the game, forcing them to pass almost exclusively. There isn't a question that Johnson is the best back on the roster, but Detroit seems to be favoring LeGarrette Blount in early down situations. Keep in mind that Blount was ejected in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game, so if he were to face a suspension, Johnson should see a large uptick in usage.
