Kerry Carpenter Hitting Cleanup Monday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder/designated hitter Kerry Carpenter will hit out of the cleanup spot Monday versus the Houston Astros. Tigers skipper A.J. Hinch is rewarding the 25-year-old after he went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of runs scored Saturday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Carpenter exploded for a .331 batting average with eight home runs and a 1.064 OPS across 35 games at Triple-A last season, leading to a big-league promotion where he did not disappoint. Carpenter hit another six HR with a healthy .233 isolated power and a .795 OPS across 31 games with the Tigers a season ago. The lefty-swinging Carpenter is vying for time in a Tigers outfield consisting of mostly all left-handed bats to begin the season.
