Keone Kela "Will Close" Upon Return
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton said on Tuesday that reliever Keone Kela "will close he comes back." Kela tested positive for COVID-19 back on June 30 and was finally cleared to resume workouts on Sunday, but there is still no timetable for a return. The right-hander was terrific in primarily a set-up role a season ago, holding a 2.12 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings pitched. He's likely at least a couple of weeks away, so expect the team to continue to try and close out games with Nick Burdi, which hasn't gone well so far this year.
