Keone Kela Takes Loss On Friday
7 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Keone Kela took his first loss of the season on Friday against the Mariners. Kela pitched the top of the ninth with the game tied. He gave up two singles, a sacrifice and a steal before Jean Segura drove in two runs with a double. Segura later scored after Kela was removed from the game, landing him with three earned runs on one out. These are the first earned runs of the season for Kela, who has two wins and two saves so far in 2018. It is unlikely this outing costs Kela his job as closer, but a 15% walk rate in 2018 is going to keep him in the lower tier of closers.
