Kenta Maeda Placed On 10-Day Injured List
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Maeda, who was forced to exit each of his last two starts with groin tightness, is officially dealing with a right adductor strain. This will be the veteran right-hander's first stint on the injured list as a member of the Twins. After finishing second in the 2020 Cy Young award race, Maeda has taken a step back, pitching to a 5.27 ERA with a career-low 20.5 percent strikeout rate. He's had command troubles- as evidenced by his 11.0 hits and 1.9 home runs allowed per nine innings, so perhaps some time off can allow him to correct anything mechanically wrong with his pitching motion. Randy Dobnak, who tossed six shutout innings in Saturday's win, is a candidate to see another couple of starts in Maeda's absence.
