Kenta Maeda Knocked Out Of Game Early By Arizona
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda did not have his best stuff on Friday, most likely because of his long lay-off between starts. It was a disappointing encore to his first start that saw him strike out ten batters. In 2 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday, he gave up five runs (two earned), struck out two and walked two. While the extra three runs weren't earned, two of them came from Maeda's errant throws (one to first base and one wild pitch). The third was a passed ball by Yasmani Grandal. Due to scheduling, Maeda hadn't started since March 31st. He did come out in relief last Saturday, pitching, one inning, but the rust was noticeable. He's still an intriguing SP4 option, so look for the Dodgers to keep him on-track for the foreseeable future. His value dips if he's a reliever, although players in leagues that count holds or ratios would gladly take him.
