Kenta Maeda Fans Four In Second Spring Start
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda kept dealing in his second start of the spring. Maeda pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out four batters as the Twins stretched the soon-to-be 33-year-old out for an additional inning on Tuesday. Maeda threw 31 of 41 pitches for strikes, inducing eight swings-and-misses, five of which came on his slider. He's now struck out seven batters in five Grapefruit League innings, as he seems to be doubling down on his 2020 strategy of throwing more off-speed pitches, which led to career-high swinging strike and chase rates in 2020.
