Kenta Maeda Allows Three Runs In No-Decision
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda pitched five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while fanning three batters in Tuesday's no-decision. Maeda's troubles with the long-ball persisted as he surrendered a three-run blast to Yasmani Grandal. The veteran right-hander did induce 10 whiffs, but the spin rates on his breaking pitches were down Tuesday night- and he allowed a 93.1 MPH average exit velocity. It was still encouraging to see Maeda limit the damage against a potent lineup, though he still has yet to live up to his lofty ADP in 2021. His next start will come on May 16 against the Athletics, who tagged him for seven earned runs earlier this season.
