3 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles rookie running back Kenneth Gainwell operated as the second running back for the Eagles win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. The rookie ran the ball nine times for 37 yards and a touchdown and added two catches on three targets for six more yards. Heralded as an excellent pass catcher coming out of college, Gainwell was used more as a pure runner in this game, although an extremely positive game script for the Eagles may have had something to do with that. His score came from eight yards out in the third quarter and put the Eagles ahead 22-6. With Boston Scott nowhere to be seen, Gainwell has the second spot on the running back depth chart locked up. He could be an every-week RB2 if starter Miles Sanders were to go down.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
