Kenley Jansen Needs To Refine Control
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen will be looking to pick up more saves when the team opens up a series with the Cubs on Monday. Jansen is 5-for-6 on save chances through the first month of the season with 1.06 WHIP, a 2.38 ERA and is holding opponents to an impressive .086 batting average. But control has been a huge issue for the veteran as he has issued nine free passes through his first 11 1/3 innings pitched. Jansen has walked at least one batter in eight of his first 10 appearances, a recipe for disaster at the end of close games. Jansen may not have the lock-down stuff of seasons past but is more than capable to handle the ninth inning duties for the Dodgers moving forward.
