Kenley Jansen Allows Walk-Off Homer Tuesday
1 year agoBoston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen took his sixth loss of the season in Tuesday's 8-6 extra-innings loss to the Rays. Jansen came on to pitch the bottom of the 11th inning up by one with a free runner on second. He walked the leadoff hitter before allowing a walk-off, three-run home run to Brandon Lowe. This was the veteran's third consecutive day pitching, and he allowed multiple runs in two of those three outings. Despite this rough patch, Jansen has converted 29 of 33 save opportunities this season with a 3.43 ERA and a 10.48 K/9 rate. He remains a solid fantasy option, although he will likely receive a few days off after his recent heavy workload.
