Kendall Graveman Picks Up Fifth Save Sunday
4 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Kendall Graveman successfully protected a one-run lead Sunday, entering in the ninth inning and only allowing one single against Cleveland. Graveman struck out one batter en route to his fifth save. Through 16 2/3 innings over 14 appearances, Graveman has still not allowed a run. He's been outstanding, and the only thing holding him back from fantasy stardom is the fact that he hasn't been used as a traditional closer. With no other viable closing options in the Seattle bullpen, those opportunities may come more frequently.

Kendall Graveman's Imaging Comes Back Clean
2 weeks agoArizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Kendall Graveman (back) underwent imaging on his back. The imaging returned clean, which suggests he avoided a significant injury. Manager Torey Lovullo said, "There's nothing alarming enough for a major setback." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he will likely remain sidelined for a few days. However, the 34-year-old has plenty of time to increase his workload prior to Opening Day. Earlier in the offseason, the Snakes signed Graveman to a one-year $1.35 million contract. Last season, Graveman missed the entire 2024 campaign after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum. In 2023, Graveman logged 66 1/3 innings of work with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He tallied 66 strikeouts and added eight saves. When healthy, he will likely have a high-leverage role in the Arizona bullpen.

Kendall Graveman Dealing With Back Tightness
2 weeks agoArizona Diamondbacks right-handed reliever Kendall Graveman (back) is undergoing imaging after complaining of tightness in his back while throwing a bullpen session over the weekend. The results of Graveman's MRI exam will determine how much time he'll need to miss, and the 34-year-old veteran could certainly be in danger of missing Opening Day at the end of March. However, manager Torey Lovullo said the injury wasn't anything "too alarming." Still, Graveman didn't sign with Arizona until after the start of spring training and has yet to pitch in a Cactus League game. On top of that, he had surgery last January to fix a torn labrum and missed the entire 2024 campaign. If healthy in 2025, he could be in the mix for some high-leverage bullpen work for the Snakes, but it might be a stretch to expect him to return to his pre-injury form.

Kendall Graveman Agrees With Diamondbacks On One-Year Deal
1 month agoFree-agent reliever Kendall Graveman (shoulder) agreed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday on a one-year deal worth $1.35 million, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. The deal is pending a physical. If he reaches all of his incentives, the deal could be worth as much as $3.3 million. Graveman had right-shoulder surgery in January of last year to fix a torn labrum and to also clean up his rotator cuff, but the 34-year-old veteran right-hander is apparently fully healthy now and will give the D-backs an experienced veteran in the late innings in their bullpen in 2025. In nine big-league seasons with five different teams, Graveman has 24 saves while also posting a 3.95 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 17.8% strikeout rate and 7.9% walk rate. He didn't become a full-time reliever until 2021. Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk should soak up most of the save chances in Arizona.

Kendall Graveman Drawing Interest On Open Market
2 months agoAccording to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, relief pitcher Kendall Graveman is drawing interest on the free-agent market. Graveman missed the entire 2024 campaign, recovering from shoulder surgery to repair a torn right labrum. Graveman began throwing in August and is expected to be healthy during spring training. During the 2023 campaign, Graveman spent time with the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros and posted a strong 3.12 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Graveman held a solid 2.53 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP across 121 innings. While Graveman may not be as effective as he was before his surgery, he could find a role as a middle reliever. He is worth monitoring as he may be a viable target in leagues that score holds if he joins a competing team.
