Ken Giles Picks Up Third Save In Win
7 years agoHouston Astros closer Ken Giles picked up his third save of the season as the Astros beat the Angels 5-2 on Wednesday. Giles tossed a scoreless frame as the Astros slowly work him back into a routine after a brief shutdown with back tightness. Giles has been effective in the scattered outings he's seen in the first month of the season. But fantasy owners have to be disappointed about the tepid returns thus far. The leash on Giles this season is shorter than usual this season after his struggles in the 2017 postseason. The early-season back flare-up also will continue to affect his usage in the near future, meaning a decrease in consistent save opportunities. Giles deserves a roster spot on most fantasy teams but his expectations need to be considerably lowered for now, and he may not see every save chance for the team.
