Ken Giles Expects Jays To Use “Old School” Pitching Approach
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays closer Ken Giles stated in an interview that he expects the team to use an “old school” pitching approach with starters going deep into games and relievers finishing the last few innings. This philosophy will mean that the right-hander will likely work the ninth inning predominantly instead of playing matchups in the seventh or eighth innings. Giles is the clear choice for saves in Toronto, but without a contract for next season, he could become trade bait in August if the Jays are out of contention. Coming off a strong 2019 campaign where he held a 1.87 ERA and 39.9% strikeout rate, Giles makes a nice draft target for all fantasy formats.
