Kelvin Herrera Implodes Against Reds
6 years agoKansas City Royals closer Kelvin Herrera has been nearly untouchable in 2018, but everything went off the rails on Tuesday night. Herrera came in to close a 1-0 game, but he promptly gave up a game-tying solo shot to the first hitter he faced, catcher Tucker Barnhart. He then walked Joey Votto, Herrera's first walk of the season, and that brought out the trainers to see if he was OK. After recording a couple fly outs, he walked another batter before getting the third out. The Royals would go on to lose in the 10th inning. Herrera's walkless streak ends at 24 2/3 innings, and the terrible inning leaves lingering injury concerns. While this was likely a fluke, owners should keep a close eye on his next couple outings.
