Kellen Mond Has Intriguing Upside
4 years agoTexas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond is considered an intriguing Day 2 prospect in this year's draft for teams that are out of reach of the top signal-callers. Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher said that he's had extensive talks with around 10 to 15 teams about Mond, a four-year starter in college. Mond won 32 games on his way to a school-record 9,661 passing yards, 71 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. Scouts like his arm strength but also say he settled for checkdowns too often and played too conservatively. Mond went 188-for-297 (63.3 percent) for 2,282 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions in his senior season. Along with Mond, Florida's Kyle Trask and Stanford's Davis Mills are among the second tier of draft-eligible QBs outside of the five surefire first-rounders.
