Keegan Akin Back From Paternity Leave
3 months agoThe Baltimore Orioles reinstated left-hander Keegan Akin from the paternity list on Friday and optioned left-hander Nick Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Akin will return to the team after being away for the last three days for the birth of his child. The 29-year-old southpaw will return to Baltimore's bullpen this weekend for the remainder of their series against the Houston Astros at Camden Yards. The former second-round selection in 2016 out of Western Michigan has already appeared in a career-high 51 games (all in relief) for the O's in 2024 and has gone 2-0 with a 3.52 ERA (2.99 FIP), a 0.95 WHIP and 78:16 K:BB in 64 innings. Akin has been much better than his 3.52 ERA would indicate and will now return to a key role in Baltimore's bullpen.
