3 days agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will be trusted in the crease for a 17th straight game on Sunday versus the Chicago Blackhawks. The Czech netminder has worked tirelessly between the sticks since the 4 Nations break, with Connor Ingram (personal) unavailable. Recently, he has hit a wall, dropping three decisions in a row, including an ugly 8-0 trashing by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Vejmelka holds a 21-20-7 record for the season, boasting a 2.60 goals-against average with a .903 save percentage and one shutout. Utah's No. 1 has not lost four consecutive starts since February 2024 and is in a good spot to end his recent slump, as Chicago has gone 1-8-1 over its last 10 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced en route to defeating the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday evening. The shot remained quite even through most of the contest, but Vejmelka was able to step up when called on. His lone mistake came in the second frame when Vancouver defenseman Quinn Hughes scored on the power play. This was a nice bounce-back showing for Vejmelka, as he allowed three goals on just 21 shots during his previous game. Over his previous six contests, the 28-year-old has struggled to find consistency as he has held a 3-1-2 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Fantasy managers should expect Vejmelka to remain in the starting crease in their next contest on Tuesday evening against a potent Edmonton offense.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will make his ninth consecutive start in Friday's clash against the Seattle Kraken. He has posted a 5-1-2 record since becoming ever-present in the crease. Over the course of the season, Vejmelka has gone 18-16-6 with one shutout. He has allowed 2.47 goals while posting a .909 save percentage. Although his recent success will boost Vejmelka's confidence, he had a difficult time when Seattle and Utah met for the first time this season, coughing up four goals on 32 shots in a 5-2 defeat on Dec. 30.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will get the starting nod on Wednesday evening against the Anaheim Ducks. Vejmelka will be making his eighth-straight start. During this seven-game stretch, the 28-year-old has held a 4-1-2 record with a strong 2.11 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Before this stretch, the 28-year-old has posted an underwhelming 3.25 GAA with a .885 save percentage. Through 41 total contests this season, Vejmelka has posted a 17-16 record with a .909 save percentage, 2.49 GAA and one shutout. Fantasy managers should consider Vejmelka as a solid option in deeper formats this evening as the Ducks have struggled to generate scoring opportunities consistently. DFS players should also consider starting Vejmelka as he should be in a good position to pick up a victory.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced en route to defeating the San Jose Sharks. Vejmelka's lone blemish came in the opening frame on a wrist shot from Fabian Zetterlund. Vejmelka was able to shut the door for the remainder of the evening. This was a nice bounce-back outing for the 28-year-old as he carried a 1-4-1 record over his past six games into Friday's contest. During this span, he allowed three or more goals in four of them and never allowed one or less. Before this cold stretch, he was riding a four-game win streak. Vejmelka will look to start a new winning streak in his next start, which will likely be Tuesday evening against the Canadiens, as Connor Ingram will likely get the nod in the second half of a back-to-back on Saturday night.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
