Justyn Ross Getting First-Team Snaps
Justyn Ross got first-team reps at practice on Sunday. The 23-year-old missed the 2022-23 campaign because of a foot injury sustained at the collegiate level. There was also talk of him not making the team. However, Ross' enhanced role early in training camp makes things interesting. The Chiefs lost JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman Jr. this offseason, so Kansas City is looking to fill the void. Although Travis Kelce is expected to remain Patrick Mahomes' favorite target, there is room for others to get more involved. Whether or not Ross will be one of the guys to earn Mahomes' attention is yet to be seen. But it's certainly a situation worth monitoring.

Justyn Ross Signed To Active Roster
Justyn Ross from their practice squad to the active roster ahead of their meeting with the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. The former Clemson Tiger was promoted twice earlier this season in Weeks 9 and 10, logging a total of 14 snaps and commanding just one target. Since then, though, Ross had been nothing more than a practice squad stash for the team. However, he'll get another shot at in-game action against the visiting Bills in the Conference Championship round. While the 25-year-old's path to targets is unclear, it appears he's likely to get at least some playing time in Kansas City's most pivotal contest of the year. Expect him to work in behind fellow wideout Justin Watson.

Justyn Ross Elevated To Active Roster For Monday Night Football
Justyn Ross from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster on Monday night for the Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It will be Ross' first game of 2024 on the team's active roster with JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) missing his second straight game. KC is also without Rashee Rice (knee) and Marquise Brown (shoulder) for the rest of the year, which led them to trade for veteran DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins should have a bigger role on Monday alongside rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson and Mecole Hardman, with tight end Travis Kelce also having a higher ceiling and floor in fantasy. The 24-year-old Ross had six catches for 53 yards in his 10 regular-season games for the Chiefs a season ago. Fantasy managers should continue to ignore Ross.

Chiefs Release Justyn Ross
Justyn Ross on Tuesday, according to sources. The Chiefs let go of both Ross and Kadarius Toney on Tuesday as they trim their final roster down to 53 players. The addition of veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster to the receiving corps didn't help their causes to open the year on the active roster. Ross went undrafted out of Clemson last year and played sparingly in his first year in the NFL, catching just six of 11 targets for 53 yards and no touchdowns in 10 games played (one start). The Chiefs probably won't have Marquise Brown (shoulder) for the start of the season and are bracing for an eventual suspension for Rashee Rice later in the year, but they also have rookie Xavier Worthy, Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman on their current roster at wideout.

Justyn Ross Won't Play In Super Bowl LVIII
Justyn Ross is a healthy scratch for Sunday's Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. The 24-year-old rookie returned from suspension to play in 10 regular-season and two playoff games this year. He hasn't caught a pass since Week 18 and ultimately finished his rookie campaign with just six receptions for 53 yards. Ross joins Kadarius Toney (coach's decision) on the bench Sunday, leaving Rashee Rice, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mecole Hardman Jr., and Justin Watson as the Chiefs' top active wide receivers.
