Justyn-Henry Malloy To Focus Exclusively On Outfield
9 months agoDetroit Tigers infield/outfield prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy will be focusing strictly on the outfield moving forward and will not be in consideration at third base. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch and president Scott Harris have both noted that the club will deploy several options at third base as they did not sign a full-time player at that position but it appears Malloy's path to the big leagues will indeed be in a corner outfield spot. The 23-year-old's bat appears to be big-league-ready as he hit .277 with 23 home runs alongside an 18% BB% and an .891 OPS at Triple-A in the 2023 season after he was acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Braves. The Tigers signed Mark Canha as the team's everyday left fielder as Malloy is most likely to begin the season in the minors before likely pressing for a promotion near the summer.
