Justin Turner Placed On DL, Alex Verdugo Recalled
6 years agoUpdating a previous report, the Los Angeles Dodgers placed third baseman Justin Turner (groin) on the 10-day disabled list with a right groin strain and recalled outfield prospect Alex Verdugo from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Turner's 2018 season has been marred by injuries after his breakout in 2017. It's likely he'll be out well beyond the 10 days, but fantasy owners need to be patient with him. Max Muncy is the most likely candidate to fill in at the hot corner with Turner out, but Manny Machado could also see time there. Verdugo was hitting .349/.396/.506 with eight long balls, 37 RBI and four steals in 67 games in the minors and was 9-for-34 (.265) in 34 at-bats with LA earlier this year. If he stays up and sees consistent playing time, he'll be worth owning in the majority of redraft leagues.
