Justin Steele Looking To Build On Bounce- Back Effort Thursday
1 year agoChicago Cubs pitcher Justin Steele will look to build on a bounce-back effort when he gets the ball for a road start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. The left-hander was roughed up for six earned runs while allowing 10 hits, including two home runs, in a July 16 outing against the Boston Red Sox. However, Steele bounce back with 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball along with a season-high nine strikeouts in a winning effort against these very Cardinals his last time out. The 28-year-old is enjoying a banner year, turning in a 2.95 ERA, 2.97 FIP, and a career-best 17.7% K-BB% on the back of a tiny 5% BB% in 18 starts this season. Steele will take on a Cardinals offense that ranks 13th with a .327 wOBA versus left-handed pitching this season.
