Justin Steele Exits Early On Thursday
3 years agoChicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele left Thursday's contest with right hamstring tightness. Steele pitched a scoreless inning in the top of the sixth and even took an at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning. Steele headed out to work the top of the seventh inning, but went back to the dugout after throwing warmups. Steele has performed well in his debut season and has recorded a 2.03 ERA to go along with 21 strikeouts in just 13 1/3 inning. Steele has gained the confidence of manager David Ross and has begun to be used in high leverage situations. With the possibility of the Cubs dealing closer Craig Kimbrel, Steele along with Andrew Chafin and Ryan Tepera would be names to monitor for saves. Steele remains day-to-day for now.
