Jurickson Profar Opts Out Of Contract Monday
2 years agoOutfielder Jurickson Profar opted out of the final year of his three-year, $21 million contract with the San Diego Padres Monday, per the MLB Player's Association Communication Department. Profar's three-year contract gave him the ability to opt out after each of the first two seasons. His 2022 season was a rebound from 2021, as he slashed .243/.331/.391 with 15 home runs, 58 RBI, and five stolen bases in 658 plate appearances. The former top prospect and current free agent has not lived up to expectations over the course of his career, but he did play an important role for the Padres this past season.
