Junior Caminero Takes Batting Practice
8 months agoTampa Bay Rays infield prospect Junior Caminero (quadriceps), who is on the seven-day injured list at Triple-A Durham, took a full session of live batting practice and also took ground balls at third base on Tuesday. He's eligible to come off the injured list now and is closing in on a return to action if he doesn't have any setbacks. The 20-year-old is the team's top prospect and the No. 4 overall prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline, but the Rays are known to slow-play their youngsters. That might be especially true for Caminero now that he's coming off an early season injury. But even then, the Dominican should play for the Ray sooner than later in 2024 after making his big-league debut last year. His high prospect pedigree makes him stash-worthy in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues.
