7 years agoLos Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle posted a double-double on Sunday, finishing with 17 points with 10 boards to go along with five dimes. He connected on seven of eight from the charity stripe, which was a surprise since the Lakers are absolutely terrible in shooting free throws (68 percent on the season) as a team. He's still surrounded by trade rumors as we approach the trading deadline, and a trade out of Los Angeles could really set him free. He's still hovering just around the top 150 because of inconsistency issues but has played very good basketball lately. Randle won't get many defensive stats like steals or blocks, so he's more of a poor man's Blake Griffin. Randle has only four blocks in the whole month of January, as it really diminishes his upside coming from the center position.--Dicky Fung

1 month agoMinnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle (groin) is questionable heading into Tuesday's matchup with the 76ers. The former Knick missed 13 games because of a groin injury. But he was back in the lineup for Sunday's win over Phoenix, amassing 20 points and six boards in 33 minutes. With Minnesota playing back-to-back contests on Tuesday and Wednesday, it's possible Randle misses one of those contests. As a result, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, averaging 12.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 40.6% shooting from deep in 10 starts this season, could find himself back in the starting lineup.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

1 month agoMinnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle (groin) will play on Sunday against Phoenix. The 30-year-old missed the last 13 games because of a groin injury. But he'll be back in the lineup, which is great news, considering Minnesota is still without Rudy Gobert (back). It will likely take Randle a few games to return to form. Still, fantasy managers should add him back to their starting lineups. With that said, Randle's return will likely result in less work for Donte DiVincenzo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Also, Naz Reid, who had 27 points in the loss to Utah on Friday, may not be as productive with Randle and Anthony Edwards (calf) on the floor.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

1 month agoAccording to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle (groin) is expected to return on Sunday night against Phoenix. The former Knick has struggled throughout his time in Minnesota, averaging 18.9 points, his fewest since his final year with the Lakers back in 2017-18. He's also missed the last 13 games because of a groin injury. Randle will likely need at least a few games to ramp up. However, he's a must-start for fantasy managers, especially with Rudy Gobert (back) ruled out and Anthony Edwards (calf) questionable. Either way, Randle's return should still result in fewer minutes for Donte DiVincenzo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

1 month agoMinnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle (groin) will miss a 13th consecutive game on Friday due to the groin strain he suffered in January. The Timberwolves are set to take on the Utah Jazz without either one of their starting bigs, Anthony Edwards (suspension), and possibly Donte DiVincenzo (questionable - toe). That means the team will likely go deep into their bench, but Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Terrence Shannon Jr. still see a big boost in opportunities. Both have been getting extra minutes already amid these injuries, and they clocked 35 and 29 minutes of playing time respectively on Thursday.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBaller
