3 years agoToronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Julian Merryweather (oblique) threw a "nice and easy" side session this week, according to manager Charlie Montoyo. Reliever Ryan Borucki (elbow) had a successful bullpen session on Friday. His next step is either a side session on Monday or live batting practice on Tuesday, followed by a minor league rehab assignment. Merryweather will follow the same plan. Don't be surprised if these two relievers don't return until after the All-Star break. Merryweather, 29, hadn't allowed a run while striking out seven and walking one with two saves in 4 1/3 innings before his injury. If he returns to his pre-injury form, he could once again be in the mix for saves in Toronto with Jordan Romano when he returns.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
