6 years agoNew York Mets center fielder Juan Lagares has gotten off to a rough start at the plate in 2019. The former Gold Glove winner had just two hits in 13 plate appearances entering Thursday's series opener against the Nationals. He would have two additional plate appearances, going hitless and striking out once before getting removed for pinch-hitter Dominic Smith in the seventh. The 30-year-old could simply be getting readjusted, as he also struggled during spring training following an injury-shortened 2018 season. He's now batting .133 with one home run and three RBI this season.--RDelgado
