JT Brubaker Could Miss Entire 2023 Campaign
2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher JT Brubaker (elbow, forearm) may have to miss the entire 2023 season after suffering elbow inflammation a couple of days ago, according to Jason Mackey. The injury is expected to be major and will keep him out for an extended time. The Pirates are hoping Brubaker can make a comeback this year, but the outlook isn't very positive. Brubaker was expected to anchor a poor Pirates rotation in 2023. The 29-year-old posted a 4.69 ERA in 2022, but his 3.92 FIP looked much better, thanks to a 1.06 HR/9. Brubaker didn't generate too many strikeouts, with a 22.8% strikeout rate and didn't have the most control, exhibited by an 8.4% walk rate. The right-hander is droppable in almost every league after the news, and fantasy managers can easily replace him with another arm on the waiver wire.
