Josh Smith Back In Action For Rangers
5 months agoTexas Rangers infielder Josh Smith (glute) is back at third base and is hitting third for the Rangers in Sunday's series finale against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Zack Littell. Smith missed the last two games with recurring glute tightness but will be back to close out the series against the Rays. The 26-year-old former second-round pick of the New York Yankees in 2019 out of LSU has really taken advantage of increased playing time at the hot corner in Texas this year after regular third baseman Josh Jung fractured his wrist early in the season. Smith will return to a .293/.386/.451 slash line with an .837 OPS, seven home runs, 34 RBI, four steals and 40 runs scored. He's currently riding a four-game hitting streak, going 6-for-16 (.375) with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
