Josh Simpson Could Throw A Bullpen Soon
4 months agoMiami Marlins left-hander Josh Simpson (elbow), who underwent surgery for left-elbow neuritis on April 23, will be evaluated for a bullpen session in the coming weeks. Simpson has been continuing his throwing program in Jupiter, Fla. He had thrown one innings for Single-A Jupiter on April 6 after previously completing one inning and 25 pitches in an extended spring game on April 2 before he experienced a setback. Simpson opened the year on the injured list and didn't pitch in a spring training game after his Feb. 27 outing because he began to feel discomfort. He was moved to the 60-day injured list on April 20. The 26-year-old southpaw has yet to make his major-league debut but could be an option for Miami's bullpen in the second half of the season.
