Josh McCown Emerges As Favorite To Become Texans Head Coach
3 years agoFormer quarterback Josh McCown has appeared to vault to the top of the heap of Houston Texans' head-coaching candidates, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. McCown, 42, has never held a head coaching post beyond the high school level but his relationship with Texans brass has reportedly worked heavily in his favor. Houston moved on from David Culley after just one season in which he went 4-13, largely held back by the team's uncertainty under center. McCown played 16 seasons in the NFL, appearing in 102 games (76 starts) in that span. It's unclear what type of offense he would run -- and whether or not Deshaun Watson would be at his disposal -- if hired.
