Josh James Won’t Be Cleared For Opening Day
4 years agoHouston Astros right-handed pitcher Josh James (undisclosed) is nearing a return to the mound, albeit one that will not have him set in time to take the hill for April 1. James had a recent "physical setback" in his recovery and has not yet appeared in a Grapefruit League contest. After an odd statistical campaign in 2020 where he yielded very little hard contact with an above-average exit velocity of 85.4 mph, yet still a 7.27 ERA in 13 appearances, James' role in the Astros' mix is unclear. The combination of that uncertainty, along with his injury ambiguity, makes him a non-entity in season-long drafts at this stage.
