Josh Jacobs Won’t Get “Many” Carries In Preseason
5 years agoWith the Oakland Raiders opening up on Saturday with their first preseason game against the Rams, running back Josh Jacobs likely won’t appear in the contest. Head coach Jon Gruden stated his starters wouldn’t play in this game after getting about 120 snaps between joint practices with the NFC champions earlier this week. Beat reporter Scott Bair went on to say that Jacobs “will take a few carries this summer, not many in the preseason” as they likely don’t want to wear down the first-round rookie for his debut season. The plan is to make Jacobs an every-down back, but it remains to be seen how much he contributes to the passing game with Jalen Richard on the roster. Jacobs should receive plenty of volume as the lead back making him an RB2, although the injury news of guard Gabe Jackson could dampen his outlook.
