Josh Downs Targeted Three Times Saturday Night
1 year agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs had two receptions for 20 yards in Saturday's 24-17 preseason victory against the Chicago Bears. The third-round rookie was targeted three times, and both catches were third-down conversions. Downs currently stands as a backup to Isaiah McKenzie on the Colts' depth chart, but he is working to crack the starting lineup. Paired with rookie first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson, the former Tar Heel has a chance to flash this season. However, Richardson's inexperience will likely lead to underwhelming and unpredictable passing performances throughout the season. Downs remains a late-round pick for best ball and should not be drafted in redraft leagues. However, he is a player to watch, as receivers are likelier to break out in the second half of their rookie season.
