Josh Bell Hits 18th Home Run
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell continued swinging the bat well this year in Wednesday's 7-2 victory over the Reds as he went 3-for-5, including a three-run bomb in the seventh inning. It was the fifth time this season he has collected at least three hits in a game. The 26-year-old now has hit 12 of his 18 home runs in May, tying Jason Bay's team record for most long balls in a month. He is also just one extra-base hit shy of knotting Paul Waner's club record of 24 for any month. Bell will look to increase his numbers this month with two games against the Brewers at PNC Park, where the fourth-year pro has compiled a .318/.390/.761 slash line with nine homers and 20 RBI.
