Jose Urena Might Not Need Long Layoff
5 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Jose Urena (back), who was put on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with lower back tightness, might only need to miss a start or two. Manager Don Mattingly said the team didn't think Urena would need to miss any time at all before finally putting him on the injured list. Urena is 4-7 with a 4.70 ERA through his first 13 starts of the year and had a streak of nine straight games pitching at least six innings when it was snapped last Friday when he allowed six earned runs on 11 hits to the Braves. Urena has a very mediocre 6.1 K/9 in his 74 2/3 innings as well, so he's mostly just a streamer in deep mixed leagues. He won't get many wins pitching for these Marlins.
