Jose Urena Allows Five Runs In Loss To Rangers
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Jose Urena had yet another rough outing in Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers. Urena pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed six hits, four walks and five earned runs while striking out three. He escaped with a no decision, but his season-long ERA and WHIP were elevated to 6.43 and 1.69, respectively, after the outing. Urena had a solid start to the year, posting a 3.77 ERA in April and a 4.56 ERA in May. However, he blew up in June, posting a 12.50 ERA over five starts. If he continues to struggle like he has recently, it's hard to imagine the Tigers will keep him in the rotation long after All-Star break. His next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Minnesota Twins.
