Jose Siri has gone 3-for-10 with three long balls during his first taste of spring training with the Mets. He has tallied seven RBI and held a 3:3 BB:K. He has also swiped one bag. Earlier in the offseason, the Mets acquired Siri from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for
Eric Orze. He then signed a one-year, $2.4 million contract to avoid arbitration. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his performance during spring training, as he could eventually claim the starting center field job over
Tyrone Taylor. Last season, Siri went deep 18 times and stole 14 bags with a .187/.255/.366 slash line. He generated a strong 14.7 percent barrel rate but struck out at a hefty 37.9 percent rate. Taylor held a .248/.299/.401 line. If Siri were to win the job, he could have value in deeper category formats given his power and speed upside.

Eric Orze, according to a league source. Siri could see a considerable amount of playing time next year for the Mets with
Harrison Bader potentially leaving in free agency. However, the 29-year-old Dominican is going to need to pick it up offensively after hitting just .187/.255/.366 with a weak .620 OPS, 18 home runs, 47 RBI, a career-high-tying 14 stolen bases and 50 runs scored in 130 games played (448 plate appearances). Siri struck out 37.9 percent of the time. His glove is probably his most attractive attribute, but he can also provide some modest speed in NL-only leagues. Orze is a 27-year-old reliever who had a 2.92 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and three saves in 61 2/3 innings for Triple-A Syracuse in 2024 before making his major-league debut (1 2/3 frames).

Taylor Walls will both start Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field on the bench.
Jonny DeLuca will start in center field and bat eighth for the Rays, with
Jose Caballero starting at shortstop and hitting sixth against Guardians right-hander
Gavin Williams. DeLuca is hitless in two career at-bats against Williams, while Caballero is hitless in his only at-bat against Williams. Siri could see more time on the bench moving forward if he can't break out of his recent slump soon. The 29-year-old Dominican is hitting .184 (69-for-374) on the year and is 1-for-24 (.042) with two walks and 11 K's in eight games in September. Walls has played in only 72 games this year due to injuries and is hitting a similarly weak .179/.287/.242 with a homer, 13 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

Jose Siri are all heading to the bench on Friday versus the division-rival Baltimore Orioles and right-hander
Dean Kremer at Camden Yards.
Dylan Carlson is starting in left field and batting cleanup,
Jose Caballero is at second base and batting seventh, and
Jonny DeLuca is in center field and is in the six-hole against Kremer, who is making his first start off the injured list. Morel has struggled in his short time with Tampa since being acquired from the Cubs at the trade deadline, hitting .191 (22-for-115) with three homers, five RBI and 42 strikeouts in 31 games. Carlson has hit just .208 (16-for-77) in 25 games since joining the Rays at the trade deadline, but all three of his homers have come in Tampa. He'll be a deep DFS sleeper in the cleanup spot for the Rays on Friday.
