Jose Quijada Earns Save For Angels Tuesday
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Jose Quijada got the first shot at a save after the team traded away closer Raisel Iglesias in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Athletics. Quijada came in to pitch the ninth inning with a two-run lead and turned in a 1-2-3 outing with no strikeouts, picking up his second save of the season. With Iglesias gone, it remains to be seen how the Angels will approach save situations for the rest of the season, although they may not see that many. Quijada has a solid 3.15 ERA with a 10.80 K/9 rate through 20 innings pitched this season, but he also has a high 5.40 BB/9 rate. With several other veteran relievers in the bullpen, fantasy managers should wait to see what approach the Angels take. That said, Ryan Tepera or Archie Bradley seem like better speculative adds, as both have had past closing experience.
