Jose Leclerc To Undergo Tommy John Surgery
4 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Jose Leclerc (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2021 season, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Rangers general manager Chris Young made the announcement one week after Leclerc was shelved with soreness and discomfort in his right elbow. This is a big blow to Leclerc, who missed nearly all of the 2020 season with a shoulder injury. Now it's unclear just who will take over as closer for the Rangers, who have several options to choose from. Josh Sborz is a possibility managers might want to keep an eye on, as he boasts a career 28.9 percent strikeout rate in the minors and has had a good spring with 12 strikeouts and a 1.13 ERA in eight innings of work.
