Jose Fernandez to Start at First Base on Tuesday
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels first baseman Jose Fernandez is in the lineup on Tuesday, batting seventh and playing first base. With Zack Cozart taking over shortstop duties in place of Andrelton Simmons, Luis Valbuena has slid over to everyday duty at third base. And with Shohei Ohtani out indefinitely, Albert Pujols has become a full-time designated hitter. That has allowed Fernandez to split time at first base with Jefry Marte, who left Monday's game with a left wrist contusion. If Marte is out for an extended period of time, Fernandez could be the everyday first baseman in LA. Fernandez was hitting .345 with 10 home runs in Triple-A and could be a nice add in deeper leagues going forward.
