Jose De Leon Joins The Twins
2 years agoFree-agent right-hander Jose De Leon announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he signed a minor-league deal with the Minnesota Twins. The deal includes an invitation to spring training next year. De Leon only appeared in 11 minor-league games for the Toronto Blue Jays this past season due to injury, posting a combined 4.05 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, 20 strikeouts and eight walks in 13 1/3 innings over 11 appearances (six starts) with three different levels. The 30-year-old was once a top prospect for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but injuries and control issues have slowed him down. In five major-league seasons with the Dodgers, Rays and Reds, De Leon has gone 4-1 with an 8.44 ERA (5.98 FIP), a 1.85 WHIP, a 27.7 percent strikeout rate and a 14.5 percent walk rate in 48 innings over 22 outings (six starts).
