Jose Cisnero Earns His Third Save On Saturday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Jose Cisnero closed out Game 1 of the team's doubleheader against the Houston Astros on Saturday. He pitched a clean seventh inning, allowing no hits or walks while striking out two and preserving a 3-1 lead. Cisnero now has three saves on the year to go along with a 3.00 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. It was a bit surprising to see the team go with Cisnero over Michael Fulmer to close out the game. Fulmer had closed out each of the team's previous three close wins before this one, earning two saves in the process. Fulmer went on to receive a save opportunity in Game 2 of the doubleheader, but couldn't convert it, blowing his second save of the year in the outing. Cisnero is the clear next man up for saves in Detroit, but Fulmer should still be considered the primary closer for now.
